Dear Tuhin kumar Dutta ,

8 million children thank you for pledging your support to the Awaaz Do movement.
The right of every child to a free, quality and compulsory education is something that everyone should know about.

Let's continue to spread awareness about the Right to Education Act and get more people to join us in the movement. Our collective voices will lend this movement the momentum it needs.

Copy and use the text below to email your friends and family and urge them to pledge their support to the cause.

Hi,

Recently I came across a startling fact that 8 million children in our country are denied their basic right to education. With the Right to Education Act making education free and compulsory, we must now join hands to help these children exercise this right.

UNICEF has started a movement Awaaz Do that provides us a platform to ensure that no child in this country is denied his/her basic right to education. I have joined this movement and I urge you to pledge your support to the cause.

To join the cause,
SMS AWAAZDO to 53030 or log on to www.AwaazDo.in

Together we can make a difference. So let's get started.

Awaaz do!

This could be the biggest telecom scam in India.

Case Study – My uncle bought a phone 4/5 years ago which has a SIM of Reliance, for the past 4/5 years every month on 18th 30 INR is deducted from his balance and he is unable to know what happen as he had made no calls anywhere, yesterday we made a enquiry from the Customer Care Support and the Customer  Care Executive answered that a Marathi pack has been activated on my uncles SIM as my Uncle is Bengali and he has no connection to Marathi and he has never subscribed to any such pack and it was activated by the company automatically.
Now I come to the point where the scam takes place, a SMS pack is activated and a amount is deducted from the balance if a customer or consumer is aware he calls the Customer Care Support and requests for a deactivation of the SMS and the SMS pack is deactivated but the money deducted from the balance of the phone is not returned back. Among the Indian population many people are unaware that some or the other SMS pack has been activated on their phone and every month that money is getting deducted, where does that deducted money go as this money is being collected somewhere and getting used, think a large population losing every month a certain amount from their balance a amount which may reach a limit of lack’s and corers of INR, the people of India being robbed from their hard urned   money in front of their eyes. The telecom industry does not provide any detailed information with regard to such kind of cases.
Where the hell this collected money is used the question arises, who uses it because it is being collected by every telecom company offering mobile services. The Government has to check this kind of scams.
The telecom industry is making a sea from drops which is the unaccounted money collected from the people of this country who are unaware that they are being robbed by their service provider by offering them unnecessary services. I demand a investigation on this matter.

Tell Manmohan Singh to "Put Indian lives above foreign profits -- Stop the import of dangerous nuclear reactors to Maharashtra"
Dear Tuhin Kumar,

Why should we oppose this plant?

  • Thousands of safety violations have been detected in Areva's first EPR project in Finland.
  • There is no approved solution for high-level nuclear waste anywhere in the world.
  • No EPRs will be built in the US because of prohibitively high costs.
  • An accident would put millions at risk including those in densely populated Mumbai.

Last week over 600 people were arrested for standing up for their rights to live and work in safe surroundings. Over 2320 acres of land is being acquired by the Maharashtra government for Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) to build 6 mega nuclear reactors in Ratnagiri district. Protests have been suppressed using police violence and false charges[1].

The NPCIL is planning to import expensive and unsafe nuclear reactors from French company, Areva. US and European nuclear regulators have identified severe flaws in the reactor and they have not approved the design.[2]

Over 2000 people will lose their land and over 10,000 people will have their health and livelihood affected due to this plant. Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh has the power to stop the import of dangerous nuclear reactors and listen to the concerns of the local people.

Can you ask Dr. Manmohan Singh asking him to put the interests of Indian people above the interests of foreign nuclear companies.

http://www.greenpeace.org/india/en/Tell-manmohan-singh-to-stop-import-of-untested-nuclear-reactors/

Most of the people around the region have refused the compensation offered by the Maharashtra government. Showing their opposition to the nuclear power plant, over 3000 people voluntarily risked jail and they have been joined by prominent figures such as former High Court judge B. G. Kolse-Patil, Admiral L. Ramdas and retired Supreme Court Judge P. B. Samant.

The Indian government is once again putting the profits of foreign companies above the interests of its own people. Instead of putting people at risk we can provide safe electricity at a cheaper cost[3] and much faster[4] with decentralised renewable energy.

Tell Dr. Manmohan Singh to put the safety of Indians first and stop the import of dangerous nuclear reactors to Maharashtra.

Dear Tuhin Kumar,

This is amazing! Over 20,000 people like you have taken the pledge to support renewable energy (RE). The energy infrastructure of the future is not one based on fossil fuels, but on RE – as that will make us energy secure in the long run, not coal.

Greenpeace launched the Urja Kranti yatra (Energy Revolution tour) in Bihar, which travelled over 1800 kms, spreading awareness about RE. Villages with a population of over 25 lakh are now supporters of RE. The traditional power systems don't deliver any power to these villages – not even in those which are on the grid and are supposed to be electrified.

Their support has resulted in four political parties of the state identifying RE as playing an important role in tackling the state's energy crisis. If we get more people to pledge support to RE, we can help show the importance of RE to all our leaders in the country.

Can you send the email below to your friends and family asking them to pledge their support to RE?

Dear Tuhin Kumar,

Click here to take a pledge for renewable energy
I have just returned from Bihar, where I travelled over 1800 kms, spreading the message of renewable energy (RE). Now there are villages with population of over 25 lakh people supporting RE. These villages have little or no access to electricity.

On 2nd October, 2010 Greenpeace launched the Urja Swaraj yatra from the Gandhi Sevagram in Bhitiharva, west Champaran, - the place where Gandhiji had called for swarajya (independence) in 1916. We met hundreds of village heads, self-help groups, local youth leaders, village people and local entrepreneurs and spoke to them about RE alternatives like solar, biomass and wind.

The idea was to garner support for RE in Bihar and make the political parties take notice of it in their manifestoes during the elections in the state. By signing this pledge you can help add strength to the demands being made by the people in the rural Bihar and also show our leaders the support for RE in the entire country.

Can you also show your support for RE by taking this pledge?

http://greenpeace.in/bihar-renewable-energy-pledge.html

The pledge says: I support clean and green renewable energy.

Four political parties in Bihar have already referred to RE playing a significant role in Bihar's energy plans in their manifestos. This happened mainly due to the support RE got from the people in rural Bihar.

Energy is central to development. This development can be green and clean if we invest in renewable energy.

This kind of energy can power rural Bihar [1] and change people's lives now. The energy revolution might just begin in Bihar!

Take the pledge to support renewable energy now and spread the word.
